I’ve wanted to be an OBGYN ever since I was a young girl watching TLC’s ‘A Baby Story.’ There’s something so magical about welcoming new life into the world! I’m in this field because helping women become mothers, and caring for them through every stage of life, is one of the greatest honors. I believe in giving my patients not just answers, but the information behind the information — because when women understand the ‘why,’ they’re empowered to make the best decisions for themselves and their families. I went into this field for the births, but I’ve found deep meaning in all the moments in between.”

A proud North Carolinian, Dr. Applegath grew up in Raleigh and then earned her undergraduate degree in Biology and Women & Gender Studies from NC State. She went on to complete medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill and finished her residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin. During residency, she also spent time abroad in Kenya as a medical missionary through World Medical Mission and was recognized on several occasions for excellence in teaching.

In her free time, you can find her at Orange Theory Fitness right by the office, discovering new restaurants with her husband, enjoying summer days on Falls Lake, or deciding what to bake for this week’s bible study.

Dr. Applegath is now accepting new patients – we are so excited for you to meet her!
